Founder & CEO
Dr. Zuleka Ru-Glo Henderson is an East New York, Brooklyn native. She recalls growing up with a gift of deep compassion that evolved into a commitment to ensuring that there are welcoming, desirable, safe and fun spaces where Black folks get to discover and share about healing.
Her journey includes work as a licensed social worker, professor, and researcher. In each of these roles, she demonstrated and cultivated an expertise in taking wellness content and concepts and transforming them into creative activities that invite people to explore the world of wellness in ways that are engaging, inviting, and accessible.
In 2021, Dr. Henderson became the Founding Director of the Center for Black WellBEing, LLC (CBW), an organization reimagining mental health service delivery with Black people. She was previously a lecturer at the Columbia University School of Social Work and Assistant Professor at Bowie State University, where her research and scholarship focused on the intersections of ancestral healing practices, trauma, and pathways to wellness. Inspired by her commitment to intergenerational healing and well-being for people of African ancestry, Dr. Henderson translated insights from her scholarship and personal experiences into the development of CBW, a healing-centered, culturally rooted, community engagement and consulting firm.
